Funding for Efficient Water Resources Management in Agriculture
The total budget of the call: BGN 99.7 million
Objectives of the Procedure
This procedure aims to make more efficient use of water resources on farms by:
- Introducing water-saving technologies
- Using treated wastewater
- Automation of irrigation processes
- Reducing water losses
Who Can Apply?
Eligible for funding are:
- Registered farmers in Bulgaria with a minimum of 4 farming years previous experience
- Micro, small or medium-sized enterprises
- Livestock holdings registered under Article 137 of the Livestock Act
Eligible Activities for Funding
- Supply and installation of irrigation/watering systems (or elements thereof)
- Supply and installation of water storage facilities
- Supply and installation of automated irrigation equipment
- Supply and installation of water saving equipment/facilities
- Supply and installation of automated watering systems, rainwater harvesting containers
- Supply and installation of water treatment and recycling plants
- Supply and installation of other water efficiency assets
Size of Project Proposals

Amount of Grant
Up to 50% of the total eligible costs.
Requirements and Deadlines
- Projects must be consistent with the River Basin Management Plan
- Applicants must have access to irrigation services or a water abstraction permit
- Start of Intake: Late 2024.
- Implementation period: 9-12 months
Important: The percentage of potential water savings must be a minimum of 5% for efficient installations or a minimum of 25% for areas with a need for large savings.
